COURSE SUMMARY
This course is designed for second-year EFL students of English at the Department of English Language and Literature at Batna 2 University during the 2022-2023 academic year. It consists of studying complex grammar structures and sentence patterns. In three -hours per week, students will develop their knowledge of the form, meaning, and use of English grammar structures in sentences and phrases to enhance their written and spoken performances in academic settings.LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to:
- Explain the grammatical uses and forms of nouns, adjectives, and adverbs.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify finite, non-finite, and verbless clauses.
- Analyze the grammatical structures in selected samples of adapted and native written and oral English.
- Analyze English sentences and complex syntactic structures in terms of grammatical form and function.
- Write standard academic English at a grammatical correctness level, reflecting the analytical skills gained in the course.
- Use high intermediate English grammatical structures to accurately and effectively express ideas in sustained written discourse.
LEARNING ACTIVITIES
Learning activities are lectures, TDs, and self-study. These lectures introduce the topics of the course and lay a foundation for the literature self-study and the work with the grammar exercises. The TDs focus on the grammar exercises and provide feedback on the students' understanding of the issues at hand.
